The Young Professionals of Alfalit in Washington, DC introduces their newest member, Adriana Campos-Korn.
Adriana shares here excitement:
“Alfalit International touched my heart from the moment I first heard their mission. Coming from a developing country, I have seen first hand what it’s like for people to live in a place where a paper and pencil are hard to come by, not to mention literacy and education. This organization has shown me I can touch people’s lives and give them a gift that will propel them, and generations after them forward.
My hope for the Washington, DC chapter of the YPA is to create a movement towards literacy in the home front in Ward 4, one of the most diverse wards in the district, and eventually across all of Washington, DC.Problems with illiteracy are not exclusive to third world or developing countries, they affect our neighbors too and it is my goal to make a difference, one person at a time. With the rise of the digital age, it is more important than ever to equip people with basic necessities like education so that they can thrive in this day and age, and I there’s no better place to start than with literacy, the most important step-stone to everything the world has to offer.”
