I wish I could tell you that things have gotten better for Yannick, 21, as he cares for Marie, 14, and Samuel, 9. But, I cannot. Since the deaths of their parents and siblings, little has changed, and their situation has worsened. They sleep on floors, sometimes just dirt, in the homes of families and friends. They frequently go hungry. Samuel is left unattended to fend for himself while Yannick collects trash for meager pay. Marie, too, helps with whatever odd jobs she can find to earn just a pittance. They are hanging on by a very slim thread. But, you have the opportunity to be the difference they need.

Through March 1, when you contribute to the Kasongo Legacy Fund, Alfalit will use a portion to assist Yannick, Marie, and Samuel. Our goal is to raise $6,000 for the Kasongo children to have safe living quarters and afford food for a year. Clothes, beds, and other needed items will also be provided. AlfaCongo, Alfalit’s authorized affiliate, will manage all funds. The remainder of the donations received will support Alfalit’s global efforts to give the gift of literacy so that adults everywhere – like Mrs. Kasongo – can read, write, and take charge of their own lives.

“Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”1 John 3:18
