Nathaniel Howard

Co-Executive Director

Nathaniel Howard has worked with The Wájaro Foundation since 2016 and shares the role of executive director with Jake Jones. Among other responsibilities, Nate oversees Alfalit’s literacy program that targets the indigenous Wayuu people. He previously worked for the Mennonite Central Committee [“MCC”], where he facilitated the Colombian Seed Program’s vocational training for young, Latin adults and served as MCC’s Rural Development Program Coordinator in Guatemala. In addition, he coordinated hurricane relief programs in Guatemala and El Salvador. Nate is on the Diálogos y Fe Church’s leadership team, serving as a worship leader. Through the La Cueva Program, he mentors orphaned Colombian youth as they exit the foster care system. He is also an active member of the Mennonite Church’s Peace & Justice committee. A Latin American resident for over 15 years, he is fluent in English and Spanish.

Nate has an MBA focused on International Development from Eastern University (St. Davids, PA) and a bachelor’s degree in arts with a major in International Business (Taylor University, Upland, Indiana). In addition, he is a certified nursing assistant and is also trained in Agro-Ecology and Food Security. Most recently, he studied Specialization in Solidarity Economics & Cooperative Development at Pontifical Xavierian University in Bogota.




Nate is married to Julieth Andrea Paez Soto, a trained psychologist who has experience working with the Colombian Ministries of Education and Health. On Wájaro’ s Advisory Board, Julieth offers the organization advice and experience in many areas, including maximizing public sector relationships.
